Team CdLS hit the ground running October 12 at the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, raising more than $81,000 (to date) for the CdLS Foundation! This outstanding 17-member team endured months of training to prepare themselves for the 26.2-mile event. Throughout the race, the ever-supportive Team CdLS “curb crew” was alongside runners providing the encouragement and sustenance needed to cross the finish line.
Others showed their team spirit by “running” a Phantom Marathon. These participants raised more than $25,000 for the Foundation without even breaking a sweat.
Congratulations to all the runners–real and phantom–for their achievements. We hope these events will only continue to grow in success.

For all those living near Belleview, FL, I have some great news about a fundraising event called Walk for the Cause. Belleview High School student Brittany Cecil organized this event as part of her senior project. How great is that?! She was inspired to fundraise for the CdLS Foundation by her friend’s three-year-old sister Natali, who has CdLS. (Learn more about Natali and Brittany in an Ocala Sun Banner article.)
Walk for the Cause takes place on Saturday, November 22 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Lake Lillian, a children’s park in Belleview. More than 50 participants will walk around Lake Lillian to raise awareness and funds in support of children and families affected by CdLS. Pledges and donations are still being accepted. Brittany’s hard work is already paying off – Townley Engineering has already pledged $500 to the cause! If you would like to participate or make a donation in support of Brittany’s project on behalf of the Foundation, please email Events Coordinator Gail Speers at email@example.com or give us a call at 1-800-753-2357.
Brittany is just one example of the diligent efforts that volunteers around the country are making to help support those with CdLS. If you have an event that you would like to host to raise money for the CdLS Foundation, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are more than happy to guide you through the process and promote your event. As always, your support is vital to our success in reaching out, providing help, and giving hope to families coping with CdLS. -JS
